About

Uptown Theater is a restored 1928 atmospheric movie palace turned concert venue in the Valentine neighborhood, hosting national touring acts, comedy and private events; the main theater holds up to 2,400 for GA concerts. Designed by John Eberson and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, its ornate interior features a night-sky ceiling and Mediterranean courtyard motifs; the venue was reopened after a major restoration in 1998. Set along Broadway near the 39th Street West corridor, it’s walkable to Westport bars and restaurants and anchors adjacent rooms like Encore and cabaret spaces.

Free parking is offered directly across from the theater at three locations: the Uptown Shoppes outside lot (3600 Broadway), the garage beneath the west wing of Uptown Shoppes (3600 Broadway), and a limited number of spaces behind the Salvation Army (3637 Broadway). Use the crosswalk across Broadway to reach the doors.

Public transit

KC Streetcar Main Street Extension stop ‘Westport (39th & Main)’ is a short walk east of the venue; RideKC bus routes serve the area, including Route 47 (Broadway) and Route 39 (39th Street) with stops at/near 39th & Broadway/Main.
